| Notes for Elizabeth SECORD | ||||||||||||||||||
| Extract from letter from George W. Secord of Norton R1 NB, EOG 2NO, Canada to Mr. John Dibblee of Cubbington, dated 28 Nov 1983 . "First let me try to give the Dibblee, Cleveland, Secord mix without having to put it down on charts. The Elizabeth Secord whom Ebenezer married was the dau. of William Secord UE.L. and Ruth Hunt, but of the New York City area. I have all the children and spouses except the wife of their son Isaac. My reference which is a St John newspaper did not give the middle name of Isaac. Ann or Annie Secord a sister of the above Elizabeth b? and died on or before 1843 (from her father's will) mar 15 Jun 1812 Isaac Cleveland, she being his 2nd wife. He 1799-1864 was bur at Penobsquis, NB 1) Their son Ezekial Cleveland m. Margaret Secord, dau. of Gillead Secord a brother of Elizabeth above in 1841 2) Their dau. Annabella Cleveland b 1812 m Caleb Secord son of the above name Gilead Secord 3) Isaac Cleveland and Ann had a son named Isaac Jr. Ralph Secord a descendant of 2) told me that the Clevelands came to Penobsquis before the Loyalists. D.E. Clark's book, The History of the Loyalists of New Brunswick, gives the names: Cle(a)veland, James, Katurah, and William. Penobsquis is farther inland than Sussex, Caleb Secord above is the son the above Gilead and was therefore later reaching Penobsquis. Unless one gets info from church records or something as sure, supporting evidence is needed. Petersville, Queens Co. NB is in the area of the Can. Armed Forces Camp and therefore cannot be found on present day maps. The grave markers of Ebenezer & Elizabeth are greatly weathered. Wish I could place you among the Dibblee family. In the meantime, am I interested in the Secords of England, you bet. Would you please let them know that I would like a least a start on the des. of Isaac C. Dibblee whose mother was Elizabeth Secord." | ||||||||||||||||||
